Bretten – Anne Moolman
I grew up in a small town in the Karoo called Somerset East and this is where the thread of fascination with the landscape, its people and what they leave behind started. I like to make art that comments on people, culture and its influences and perceptions, forming a dialogue with the viewer.
Rearing 3 children in the Eastern Cape, South Africa has subsequently lead me to make stronger statements about cultural goodness and its atrocities, specifically among children and women. These works are often laced with deeper meanings which are not apparent initially.
Among these social commentary works, I create quirky ridiculous works, like dogs in high heel shoes as well as doing client driven commissions and enjoy these processes as much.
