Eastern Cape Music and Arts Platform – The internet has given us access to independent platforms to give a voice to talented, local musicians however much money they have. Many local artists do not record their music, are not played on South Africa airwaves, and cannot afford to establish their own platforms or to employ professional promoters. Our mission is to use the internet platform as a strictly non-commercial way to showcase original music and The Arts from the Nelson Mandela Bay and Eastern Cape area.
Check out our free website and join our facebook networking page to support the site. Our long term goal is to establish an internet radio station (need funds!). The website will upload local events, post artists original music, poetry and spoken word, and other forms of expression compatible with the technology – film, animation, photography, art, drama, comedy and other forms of performance. This platform is inclusive of all genres, progressive, critical and original, and has few rules and regulations – except that:
- Work must be original,
- It is intolerant of racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia and
- It is intolerant of cruelty and violence in any form.
We encourage music and other venues to record live performances for later uploading on the site. We are encouraging the active participation in this project from local individuals and groups. The site will contain:
- Recordings (audio and visual) of local musicians / artists / performers, either pre-recorded or from live performances.
- Profiles of featured musicians and artists etc.
- An ‘open mike’ page for ‘unknowns’ to put their work ‘out there’ with a system for obtaining feedback from the public.
- Events and exhibitions.
- Copyright and other useful information.
